Hi all, I’m Heather and I’m a counselor with PHS. After much deliberation our team decided that it was time for us to include a blog that may not be as focused on the therapists perspective.
This little project is close to my heart as I have realised that more often than not people do not understand what it means to live with mental health issues.
It is so easy for our loved ones to get hurt by the way we think or act upon those thoughts. We are NOT responsible for their reactions, that is their responsibility. However, I do believe that we can show them, truly show them, what it means for us. We are responsible for out own actions and healing.
This spot will be for those who wish to share a little piece of their soul, so that anyone who is trying to understand a loved one might stand a chance.
Our first writer is someone in my life that is an inspiration as she is navigating her life with misdiagnosed mental health and physical health illnesses. I hope that anyone reading her posts will reach out if they feel a connection to what she has to say.
If you would like to write for us please do contact us. Some of our writers may choose to remain anonymous when they post. I will have spoken to and be connecting with anyone who wishes to write as a means of vetting them.
If you feel that you are connecting with the writers on here more than you expected to and would like to ask for help or a shoulder our team is always ready to hear from you.
“Writing is a form of therapy; sometimes I wonder how all those who do not write, compose or paint can manage to escape the madness, melancholia, the panic, and fear which is inherent in a human situation.”
