My name is Heather and I am a mental health counsellor based in Hong Kong. I have spent the better part of the two years working closely as an in-house counsellor with Justice Centre HK. I work with asylum seekers, refugees and victims of abuse/trauma as well as those with anxiety and depression. I completed my clinical placement in 2021.
As Namibian- South African educator I have experienced the unique stressors that many minorities face. This allows me to understand many cultural issues that may arise. I work with translators in my classroom and in counselling practice.
I have an extensive professional background within the education sector, as well as in Human resources, Recruitment and corporate companies.
Along with my counselling work, I am also a registered HK primary teacher. This has allowed me to attend training in Special education for ADHD, ASD and SPLD through the Education University of Hong Kong. I am passionate about improving clients’ psychological well-being and promoting a client-centred approach.
I offer a 30-minute free chemistry meeting. Please note that a chemistry meeting is not a counselling meeting; it is to help you decide whether you can work with me. If you would like to meet me for a chemistry meeting and to talk about the possibility of counselling, please click here.
